Printing with P-touch Template

Overview

This feature enables printing by transferring a predefined template and replacing the contents.
You can replace the numbers, strings, and barcode in the predefined format (label design) before printing.

Steps to Print with P-touch Template

Create and transfer templates

  1. 1. Create a template with P-touch Editor.
  2. 2. In P-touch Editor, click File - Transfer Template - Transfer.

  3. 3. P-touch Transfer Manager appears.
    Click the Transfer button. The label template is transferred.

    Note:
    You can distribute the templates you created to multiple users. For how to distribute templates, refer to Distributing Templates You Created to Multiple Users.

Configure the printer

Configure the printer with the P-touch Template tool.
The tool enables setting the printer to P-touch Template mode and specifying a delimiter and line return code.

Open the P-touch Template tool from the Printer Setting Tool.

  1. 1. Go to the support website. Download and install the latest Printer Setting Tool.
  2. 2. Open the Printer Setting Tool and select P-touch Template Settings.

Configurable items (The items can differ depending on the model)

Item Description
Default Command Mode Specifies the P-touch Template mode as the default mode.
To change the mode, use the Device Settings.
Default Template Number Specifies a template number to select as default when the printer is turned on.
However, if a template is not to be transferred to the printer, do not specify a template number.
Data Delimiter for P-touch Template A symbol used to indicate the boundaries between groups of data in a file.
Trigger for P-touch Template Printing You can specify a trigger to begin printing from a number of options.
Character Code Table You can select one of character code sets from available settings.
International Character Set Lists character sets for specific countries.
Command Prefix Character Specifies the prefix character code, which identifies commands used in P-touch Template mode.
Non-Printed Character Characters specified here are not printed when data is received.
Available Return Code The line feed code is used when feeding data to indicate that the following data should be moved to the next line in a text object.
Replace FNC1 Select whether or not GS codes, which are included in barcode protocols such as GS1-128 (UCC/EAN-128), are replaced with FNC1 codes.
Number of Copies Sets the number of copies.
Cut option Specifies whether to cut the labels automatically and how many labels to print before cutting them.
Give priority to print quality Select the print quality setting. If this check box is selected, priority is given to the print quality.
If this check box is cleared, priority is given to the print speed.
Inverted 180 Degrees If this check box is selected, the data will be printed after it has been rotated 180 degrees.

Send P-touch Template commands and data to print

Send P-touch Template commands and data to print labels.
You can send the commands through the interface of the printer (RS-232C, USB, Bluetooth®, wired LAN, wireless LAN, USB host (barcode scanners, etc.)).

The available devices are barcode readers, PLC, Android™ devices, handy terminals, counting scales, etc.
